So Much To Do

I’ve been extremely busy this past week.  On Sunday, I was a judge in an English competition in another city.  It kinda ruined my Christmas because I couldn’t stay out late.  I had to meet at the train station at 7am, which meant that I got up at 5am to make it there in time.  It was an all day event and I got back home at 9pm.  The competition consisted of children, ranging from 5-years-old to 18-years-old, giving speeches, singing, dancing, and doing skits.  The little ones were absolutely adorable.  Here is a picture of some of the judges and contestants:

On Wednesday, I went to a friend’s school to help her in their schools’ Talent Show.  They asked her to do a performance, so she decided to do a dance.  She went up on stage with some Chinese students to do a traditional Chinese dance, then invited all of her foreign friends up on stage to show the school “American” dances.  We did the Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, and Cotton Eye Joe.

I spent the New Year in Hong Kong.  Since my friends and I didn’t have a hostel, we decided that it would be a good idea to stay up all night.  We got into HK at around 4:30, got dinner, drinks, and then went to watch the fireworks.  There were HUGE lines and by the time the New Year rolled around, we were just standing in a funneled line with absolutely no view of the fireworks.  We got breakfast in the morning at around 4:30, and made our way back into Shenzhen after that.  I had to buy my train tickets for Beijing, so by the time that I got home, it was already 10:00am.  I slept until 6pm and it was glorious!

Below are the pictures from the Talent Show and also from Hong Kong.
