3 v. 3 Soccer Tournament

I was invited to play in a 3 v. 3 soccer tournament in Nanshan, a neighboring district.  I signed up to play with a women’s team with a women I met earlier last year.  It turns out that only one other women’s team signed up, and they were on the team from Shenzhen University.

Shone (the woman who invited me), Mike, and I, hopped on a 40-minute bus ride from Futian out to Nanshan to field.  It was held in a shopping area surrounded by an IKEA, Decathlon, and METRO store.

We had only one game and it was the championship game (wahoo!).  We tied the game 5-5 and went straight into a shootout to decide the tournament champion.  The goals were really tiny and you’re supposed to take the PK with a back heel shot.  We won 2-0 (I made my shot, surprisingly), which made us the tournament champions!

We won a trophy, gear from Decathlon, and a lot of bragging rights.  Here are some pictures from the day:
